Irresistible Films & UK Film Festival’s short movie, Mike, winner of Best Short Film at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival becoming the first British film ever to win a Crystal Bear, had its Premiere at Raindance on 25th September
The film, directed by Petros Silvestros, stars up and coming actor Charles Collier as Mike, with Louise Breckon-Richards as Mike’s mother. The seven-minute short film focuses on a sulky teenager who grudgingly takes his little brother Jack to the hairdresser. While waiting for him in the car, teenager Mike starts to panic when Jack takes longer than expected and decides to look for him.
The film takes the viewer into a series of unexpected turns and twists while addressing delicate and thought-provoking themes of responsibility and denial which leaves the imagination running wild.
Matt Nelson at Irresistible Films and producer of Mike comments; ‘We’re really excited to showcase Mike at this year’s Raindance and extremely honoured to have won the prestigious Crystal Bear, a first for the British film industry!
Matt concludes: “We’re currently in post-production with director Petros Silvestros on our second short thriller drama, A Confession so looking forward to 2015 becoming another award winning year.”
The final screening of Mike is on 5th October, 4.40pm at Vue Piccadilly.
